Programme Outcomes (POs) - Psychology Major
PO1- Critical Thinking: Take informed actions after identifying the assumptions that frame our thinking and actions, checking out the degree to which these assumptions are accurate and valid, and looking at our ideas and decisions (intellectual, organizational, and personal) from different perspectives.
PO2- Problem Analysis: Stimulate into adopting an enquiring attitude towards the problems encountered, developing solutions & appreciation of the different contexts
PO3- Effective Communication: Speak, read, write and listen clearly in person and through electronic media in English and in one Indian language, and make meaning of the world by connecting people, ideas, books, media and technology
PO4- Social Interaction: Elicit views of others, mediate disagreements and help reach conclusions in group settings.
PO5- Effective Citizenship: Demonstrate empathetic social concern and equity centered national development, and the ability to act with an informed awareness of issues and participate in civic life through volunteering.
PO6- Ethics: Recognize the diversity and complexity of ethical dilemmas in the real world, and educate oneself to base one’s actions on responsibility, and respect for human rights.
PO7- Environment and Sustainability: Understand the issues of environmental contexts and sustainable development.
PO8- Self-directed and Life-long Learning: Acquire the ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context socio-technological change.
PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES FOR B.A. (HONS) PSYCHOLOGY
The Specific Outcomes that a student should be able to demonstrate on completion of B.A. Hons. Degree level programme in Psychology are as follows:
PSO-1: Understand the foundational principles and theories of human behavior as well as apply them to examine and evaluate the bio-psycho-social bases of human behavior through the human life span.
PSO-2: Develop ability and gain experience to use skills in specific areas related to chosen specialization fields like cognitive, industrial-organizational, clinical, counseling, health, educational, social & community.
PSO-3: Understand the ways to connect theory with personal experiences and varied applied settings and understand how psychology can be applied to solve problems facing humankind.
PSO-4: Gather knowledge about the discipline and research methods; develop skills of articulation of ideas, scientific writing and develop future vocational and career goals.

STUDENT OUTCOMES
SO1- The student will be able to articulate ideas and perspectives, by developing and enhancing the communicative skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in interpersonal and interactive contexts, in print and in electronic media, for various audiences and purposes.
SO2- The students will be able to recognize the diversity and complexity of ethical dilemmas in the real world, and educate oneself to base one’s actions on responsibility, and respect for human rights.
SO3- The students would inculcate values of patriotism and of unity, and transfer these values to real-life through selfless volunteering and activism, for promoting community welfare.
SO4- The students would develop competence in understanding, appreciating, and respecting social diversity derived from the representation of points-of-view, thereby facilitating conflict resolution, and social harmony.
SO5- The students will take initiatives and challenges to choose learning opportunities and programmes, implementing learning goals, and sustaining intellectual growth and excellence in a constantly changing global scenario.
SO6- The student will study and understand Nature and the environment, so as to initiate responsible individual and collective action, towards sustaining our shared environment.
SO7- The student will be able to explore, explain and critically evaluate how texts shape the understanding of social realities and their own selves.
